Old North Church
A Sonshine Educational Tours trip to Boston would not be complete without a visit to the Old North Church. Officially listed as Christ Church it is located in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts, and is the location of the famed “one if by land, two if by sea“ phrase.
On April 18, 1775 sexton, Robert Newman hung two lanterns in the steeple to signal that the British were marching to Lexington and Concord by sea. This related to Paul Revere’s midnight ride that preceded the Battles of Lexington and Concord during the American Revolution.
As part of the “Freedom Trail” you will also want to stop at Paul Revere’s house, The Old State House, The USS Constitution and the New England Aquarium.
